What
is The Collectiv?
The
Collectiv was born in the summer of
2001 in Oakland, CA. Our organization
was founded by A. Williams, aka Sokrates,
with a mission to “empower the
Hip Hop community through education
and entrepreneurship.” We pursue
this mission by sponsoring a diverse
range of programs with distinct yet
cooperative goals. We work with young
entrepreneurs, activists and artists
to design financially viable programs
that will provide new opportunities
for empowerment. We seek to create
the perfect environment for turning
an idea into impact.
Collectiv
Programs
The Collectiv currently sponsors three
programs, Collectiv
Records, Collectiv
Arts & Entertainment
and Collectiv
Foundation. Each of these
programs occupies a distinct niche
within the Hip Hop community.
The Collectiv
Charter
Our organization operates under the
assumption that our Human Resources
are our most valuable resources. These
people are the source of all ideas
and ideas are the source of our success.
For this reason we must pursue the
ideal environment for turning an idea
into impact. Our mission to collect
is three-fold:
I. Collect,
or gather, talented young people
of all backgrounds together to collaborate.
This is founded on our belief that
all endeavors, from business ventures
to artistic projects, can benefit
from diversity. For this reason
The Collectiv encourages artistic
collaboration as well as business
networking.
II. Help people
to collect on, or benefit
from, their respective contributions
on all projects artistic, entrepreneurial
and beyond. We believe the people
do their best work when their talents
and contributions are respected
and rewarded.
III. Collect,
or save, sufficient resources to
continue providing new opportunities
for young artists, entrepreneurs
and activists.
